Rob Ford denies allegation that he tried to buy crack video

Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Rob Ford, Toronto's scandal-ridden, crack-smoking mayor, appeared on Washington D.C. radio show Sports Junkies Thursday morning.

Though the 44-year-old politician, who famously wore an NFL logo tie during a press conference about his transgressions, said he agreed to do the show to discuss football. But Sports Junkies hosts couldn't help but ask him about recent accusations that he tried to buy incriminating video footage of himself for $5,000 and a car.

“Number one, that’s an outright lie,” he said. “And number two, you can talk to my lawyers about it. But I’m here to talk football, guys. So if you want to talk football, talk football. Talk about other things, unfortunately I have to let you go."

According to a recently released police transcriptions of a phone conversation, two suspected gang members appeared to discuss an offer from Ford for video of him smoking crack.

“Ya, he said ‘I’ll give you five thousand and a car.’ What the f*** is that?’” one of the men said on the phone.

"At the end of the discussion, (one of the men) said he does not want to go to the media but would just see him (believed to be referring to Ford), ... He says he'll ask for 100 or 150," court documents state.

Ford also seemed confident about his reelection prospects.

"Absolutely," he said. "I'm getting reelected."

When asked to discuss American politics, Ford said he sympathized with the Republican platform.

"I don’t believe in all this public-funded health care,” he said. “I don’t mind two-tier health care. If you want health care, pay for it.”
