Airport shooting suspect Paul Ciancia denied bail

Suspected LAX shooter Paul Anthony Ciancia was arraigned in a prison courtroom at Rancho Cucamonga jail Wednesday.

Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The man who allegedly shot his way past security at Los Angeles International Airport and stalked TSA agents, killing one, appeared in court for the first time Wednesday.

Paul Anthony Ciancia, 23, who was been recovering from being shot by police in the melee, was arraigned in a courtroom at Rancho Cucamonga jail. The judge denied bail, calling Ciancia a flight risk and a potential danger to the community.

He faces charges of murder of a federal officer and commission of violence at an airport in a rampage at LAX on November 1. TSA officer Gerardo Hernandez, 39, was killed, and several others were injured.

Ciancia has a preliminary hearing set for December 18 and a post-indictment arraignment on December 26.
