Nov. 21 (UPI) -- A fashion conscious St. Louis man will be trading in spots for prison stripes after pleading guilty to robbing an Illinois bank while wearing a polka dot dress in September.

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, Arnell L. Edwards, pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery in federal district court in East St. Louis. The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, made the announcement. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Edwards entered the U.S. Bank in New Athens while wearing a polka dot dress, wig and sunglasses. He then approached a teller with a rag over his mouth and showed her a message on a small piece of red paper reading “stick up all money,” and stated, “Give me all the money.”

The teller took the money out of her drawer and put it on the counter. Edwards fled with the cash and was located at a nearby apartment. A search of the apartment revealed a pad of Post-it notes that matched the note he had given the teller.

The 50-year-old man is scheduled for sentencing in April. He faces a sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
