Nov. 12 (UPI) -- William "Bull" Bullard, a 6-foot-4, 217-pound guard for the Harlem Globetrotters, was demonstrating his monster basketball skills during a recent appearance in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. But a dramatic alley-oop dunk -- in which Bullard swung his feet onto the backboard -- went horribly awry, bringing the basket crashing down on top of him.
The audience gasped, but the backboard missed Bullard's head by only a few inches before it shattered onto the ground.
"When I dunk, I put my feet on the backboard, put the ball through my legs and dunk it again, so that's the motion I was going with," the 29-year-old told the New York Daily News. "By the time I realized that the rim was coming down, it was too late, and it crashed down on me."
Bullard walked away with only a gash on his forehead, but is otherwise in good condition.
