Wife bets on Packers against husband, who tazes her when Bears win

(UPI) -- After making a bet with his wife on the Packers/Bears game Monday night, a Bears fan from Illinois shot his Packers-loving bride with an electronic stun gun.

The couple had bet that if the Packers lost the game, she would be shocked with the stun gun. The Bears won, so John Grant, 42, allegedly shocked his wife twice on the butt and once on the thigh while the two were smoking cigarettes outside Sidelines Tap.

But then a Mayville Police officer arrived at the bar responding to reports from a woman claiming that her husband had used a stun gun on her three times.

When the officer arrived, the woman filled out a form indicating that she had not consented to being shocked.

After speaking to Grant and reviewing the woman’s text messages about the bet and a cellphone video, the officer ruled that the form was null and void because the woman had in fact consented to having a stun gun used on her.

Unfortunately for Grant, stun guns are illegal in Wisconsin without a conceal and carry permit, and he did not have one. After searching the semi-truck the couple calls home, officers discovered a black stun gun.

Grant was taken into custody and faces up to $10,000 in fines and up to six years in prison if convicted. He appeared in court on Tuesday on the charge of use of an electric weapon.
