(UPI) -- Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne made their Canadian union official back in July with a three-day celebration in the south of France. Since then, the 38-year-old Nickelback frontman and 29-year-old singer have apparently perfected their personal rules for a successful marriage, telling People magazine that they never drink or go to clubs without each other.
"We don't drink when we're apart," Kroger told the mag. "Ever. Even if we're apart for weeks."
"We want to protect what we have," Lavigne added.
They also avoid nightclubs.
"We don't want to go anywhere that you're asking for trouble," Kroger said. "I don’t want to be in Europe texting her, like 'Where are you?"
They also never spend more than two weeks apart, which leaves them with more than enough time to start a family.
But echoing sentiments from one of her singles, "Here's to Never Growing Up," Lavigne told reporters on Tuesday that she's not ready to have kids yet.
"I want one or two [kids], but not right now," she said. "Like, in the future. Eventually."
"I still need to just have fun!" she explained. "I've got a record, a tour. I'm not ready right now. I want to just focus on my music, but down the road, eventually [we'll have children]."
