(UPI) -- After suffering torn plantar fascia tissue, Marcus Camby has been out through the entire Houston Rockets preseason. He is unlikely to be able to play by the beginning of the season.

Camby will reportedly be waived Monday, according to a source familiar with the decision.

The Rockets have to make one more cut by the 4 p.m. deadline Monday to get down to the 15-man roster.

Camby, 39, has a guaranteed one-year contract worth $1.4 million. He will reportedly consider remaining with the team to work with its big men.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens,” the source said. “He definitely could stay.”

Kaplan said Camby, the league's second-oldest player, does not intend to retire.

“Without a doubt, Marcus plans to rehab next few months and come back and play this season for the Rockets or somebody,” Kaplan said.
