Dez Bryant is no Calvin Johnson, Nate Buleson says

The Cowboys wide receiver is talking a bit game, and he might have the stats to back it up.

(UPI) -- Nate Burleson isn't buying into Dez Bryant's "anything Calvin Johnson can do, I can do better," line.

The Detroit Lions wide receiver, who hopes to be back on November 10 after a breaking his arm, said Bryant has gotten a bit full of himself.

"Listen, I like Dez," Burleson said of the Dallas Cowboys WR. "I think he's one of the best receivers in the game right now. Very talented. Fast, big, strong."

"He possesses all the tools to possibly be as good as Calvin," Burleson said. "But he's not Calvin Johnson. No way, no how. Sorry Dez. Keep it real."

Burleson was responding to comments Bryant made Monday, comparing himself to the Burleson's teammate.

"I believe I can do whatever he can do," Bryant said. "I think it's just a pride thing. When it comes to football, just being on the field, it's a mindset and having a mentality."

"I honestly believe when I'm there, I'll be feeling like there's nothing I can't do," Bryant explained. "Whatever the coaches ask me to do, I'm going to do it."

And, at least on paper, he may be right.

While Johnson set an NFL record last season with 1,964 yards, since Week 10 of last season he and Bryant are running neck-and-neck.

Bryant has 1,448 receiving yards in that period, second only to Johnson (1,689) and Andre Johnson of the Houston Texans (1,620). But in the same span, Bryant has 16 touchdown catches, the most in the league, while Johnson has 10.

But, at least for this week, it will all come down to Sunday, when Bryant and Johnson will go head-to-head as the Cowboys head to Detroit for Week 8.
