Davion Navar Henry Only will 'without a doubt' get a family

(UPI) -- Weeks after Davion Navar Henry Only's story captured the hearts of millions, it's going to catch him something even better: the family he always wanted.

Davion, 15, first came to national attention when his plea for adoption went viral. Thanks to all that attention, the adoption agency has received more than 10,000 requests for information about the Florida orphan, and his caseworker now says he'll "without a doubt be getting a family."

In an appearance on "The View," Davion's caseworker, Connie Going, said the teen will get take part in the process of narrowing down the interested families, many of whom have already had adoptive home studies done.

"Davion will be extremely involved," Going said. "He knows who he wants, who he can connect to. We need strong families that understand teenagers."

But Davion says there's just one requirement that matters: "Anyone who will love me."

"It would make me feel really good and I think I'd be more successful and have more opportunities if I had a family," Davion said. "I hope that I do have one."

The teen, who currently lives in a group home with nine other boys, made a public plea at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg last month after learning his mother, who he had never known, had died in June.

He cleaned up his act, bringing up his grades and working on anger issues, in the hopes he would finally find a permanent home.

And while Davion will make a home with just one of those 10,000 interested families, Going explained the adoption agency, Eckerd, is helping direct those inquiries toward others of the thousands of available children in the foster system.

That way, other orphans will soon get to benefit from the movement now known as the "Davion effect."
