Proving that she doesn't need to twerk to deliver a buzzworthy performance, Miley Cyrus more than held her own as host and musical guest of this weekend's "Saturday Night Live."
"Now that white people are doing it, it seems kind of lame," the 20-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer said in her opening monologue, vowing not to twerk or reference Hannah Montana during the episode.
Cyrus also refused to apologized for her raunchy VMAs duet with Robin Thicke.
"If I owe anyone apology, it's the people who make the bottom half of shirts," she said.
Not only did Cyrus star in the show's cold open -- when she's warned that her VMAs performance will spell the end of America -- she also impersonated Scarlett Johansson auditioning for "50 Shades of Grey."
But it's her portrayal of an overly sexual, tongue-wagging Michele Bachmann that stood out most. In a pre-taped video, Cyrus' Bachmann gyrated alongside Taran Killam's John Boehner to a politics-themed parody of her single "We Can't Stop," titled "We Did Stop (The Government).
"It’s our party, we can stop what we want, we can vote how we want, defund what we want," she sang.
Cyrus last hosted "SNL" in 2011.
