Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu made headlines last week after it was reported that he would be cutting his famous mane for charity. However, new reports claim the haircut will be "more ceremonial than anything."

Rumors that Polamalu was going to cut his hair for the first time in 10 years to benefit the "Veterans of Foreign Wars Mane Event" on Veterans Day have been going around for a while.

However, the reports were misleading (at best) in giving people the impression that Polamalu would actually cut all of his hair.

A rep for Head & Shoulders -- a company that has a long-term endorsement deal with the football star, and even insured the mane for $1 million -- said Polamalu would only chop a few locks as a symbol of support for veterans.

Plamalu's hair gained fame with non-football audiences after it was featured in a series of Head and Shoulders commercials.
