Jurassic Park 3D opens at No. 1 at international box office

Steven Spielberg's 1993 sci-fi classic "Jurassic Park 3D" opened at No. 1 at the international box office this weekend.

The 3D release of the Universal classic dominated the global box office earning $30 million in ticket sales, $28.8 million of which came from the film's debut in China.

Rentrak Corporation, the global box office measurement company, announced the movie's new position in the world ranking on Sunday based on box office estimates compiled by Box Office Essentials™ and International Box Office Essentials™.

"'Jurassic Park 3D' is the new No. 1 film in the world with an estimated weekend gross of $30.0 million and a new cume of $89.9 million. Also, Disney has crossed the $2 billion mark overseas for the fourth consecutive year and 'Despicable Me 2' has surpassed the $800 million mark worldwide," said Rentrak's President of Theatrical Worldwide, Ron Giambra

Earlier in the year, "Jurassic Park 3D" earned $45.4 million in North America. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie has made $446,953,882 worldwide.
