Major League Baseball came down on Alex Rodriguez on Monday, giving him a 211-game suspension beginning Aug. 8., after using performance-enhancing drugs. The suspension is the longest non-lifetime suspension in the league's 139-year history.
Rodriguez is expected to submit his appeal Monday. Under the suspension, A-Rod will still be able to play as the league considers his appeal, which means he will make his Yankees season debut tonight.
Michael Weiner, chief of the MLB Players' Association, said that the decision on Rodriguez's appeal may take a long time.
MLBPA chief Michael Weiner says he doesn't see decision on A-Rod appeal until after the 2013 season ends. Likely November or December.

Since Rodriguez is allowed to play while his appeal is considered, the timeline may buy Rodriguez play for the rest of the season.
