Drew Brees has stepped up to defend himself against jabs on him being "cheap." The New Orleans Saints quarterback's name was linked to a $3 tip on a bill of nearly $75 at a Chinese restaurant.
Brees signed off on a $3 tip for his $74.41 bill, based on a picture released of the receipt. In a new statement, Brees said that it was takeout.
In case anyone still cares about this report: I tipped $3 on a takeout order. Had we sat down it would have been 20%+ http://t.co/Ktfnnl10pX

The waitress whose name was on the receipt may be let go from the Chinese restaurant if she is the one that released the receipt to the public.
"I want to make it every clear to management at Del Mar Rendezvous that Carissa did not submit this receipt of cheapo Drew Brees," said a writer at The Dirty, who released the receipt photo. "Contacts at the restaurant have told me you will be meeting with her tonight to discuss termination. Drew Brees is the $3 tipper, don't fire her because of his actions."
The restaurant has responded, saying that Brees is "a very generous individual, as it would be a takeout receipt, and takeout orders do not usually garner a tip at our restaurant."
"Unfortunately, there may be people who have ill will towards Drew Brees and/or our restaurant, and would be able to take a photo of a receipt of one of our guests, as they are generally exposed momentarily after signature," wrote Daniel Shalom Schreiber, managing partner of Del Mar Rendezvous.
