Von Miller, linebacker for the Denver Broncos, is appealing a four-game suspension he got for violating the NFL substance abuse policy.

As the case goes through the appeals process, it is unclear whether the suspension will go into effect. A date has not yet been set for the appeal.

Miller defended himself on Twitter Monday, saying that he expects that the suspension will be resolved fairly.

The league's confidentiality policy means that the NFL will not comment on the results of the appeal unless it fails.

In the meantime, Miller will be able to participate in the workouts as training camp starts Wednesday. If the suspension is upheld, Miller will have to stop attending training after its final preseason game Aug. 29, and will not be able to return to the team until Sept. 30.
