Rae Dawn Chong responded to the backlash that ensued her odd remarks regarding Oprah Winfrey during a "Matty P's Radio Happy Hour" interview with a video in which she explains that it was all taken out of context.

"I just want to say, out of context, its the most unfortunate choice of words and I regret it. In context, I was actually complementing Oprah," Chong said, and added that "If you get a chance you should listen to the whole interview."

The "Commando" star later added that even though she has issues with Winfrey and wouldn't take back the things she said, she is in pain that her words caused pain to her former friends and to herself.

"Am I perfect?" she asks at one point during the clip. "No"

Original story:

Rae Dawn Chong, Oprah Winfrey's co-star in "The Color Purple," called the talk show host a "biotch" who "would have been a field n****r" in a recent "Matty P's Radio Happy Hour" interview.

The 52-year-old actress, who was once a close friend of Winfrey's, said that their relationship had deteriorated after Chong got a part alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Commando."

“That’s when she was a total [expletive],” she said. "I starred in ‘Commando.’ And she just wasn’t having me. She’s competitive. She didn’t like me. She just wasn’t having me."

Chong went on to say that Winfrey was that "fat chick" in school who did everything "and everybody loved her."

"Imagine being [Oprah]. She has all of the world. All the power in the world ... and she only wants something that is only chemical, purely impossible."

The actress continued to rant about Winfrey throughout the interview claiming, "she's so enormously insecure. If you wanna distill Oprah Winfrey down to like her most basic components. She wants to be beautiful."

She concluded the interview with a compliment to her former friend, that of course hid a thinly veiled insult.

"You have to respect her no matter how vile she is because ultimately... You've done an amazing thing. You have actually shifted the DNA of the universe in terms of shifting of power structure... Sixty years ago she would've been a house keeper luckily," she said.
