Apple came out with the iPhone 5 in September of 2012, which means it's about time that the tech giant updated its massively successful smartphone.

The next iteration of the iPhone, which will probably be called the iPhone 5S, was supposed to be released this fall, according to a report in Taiwan's Commercial Times (via Bloomberg).

But in an attempt to keep up with the trend toward bigger screens, Apple pushed the iPhone's release date back to incorporate a larger display into its design.

According to the report, the new iPhone will have a 4.3-inch retina display screen, up from the iPhone 5's 4 inches.
