Monty Grow, a former NFL defensive back, faces a child abuse charge after leaving a 3-year-old girl in his car while he patronized a strip club.

Grow played just two NFL seasons: one for the Chiefs and one for the Jaguars. He played linebacker at the University of Florida.

Pinellas County, Fla., police said Grow was supposed to be taking care of the child when the child's mother used GPS to find where the two were.

She found them at Diamond Dolls, a strip club outside Clearwater. The mother drove with the girl's grandparents to the club and got the girl out of the car unharmed. They then called police.

Police arrived at 9:48 p.m. Grow ran out of the club and admitted to leaving the child unattended, officials said, but claimed he had only stopped by the club for a few minutes to collect money he lent to a club employee.

Grow lives in Redington Beach and has not played for the NFL since 1995. He was released Monday after posting $5,000 bond.
