Katie Couric's daytime show "Katie" started in September 2012, but may not be renewed for a third season.

The show has suffered from a lack of leadership after the exit of executive producer Jeff Zucker. After Zucker's departure, show creators have had a hard time making decisions -- Zucker was replaced with four co-executive producers -- and finding a balance between hard news and human-interest segments.

Zucker has since become CNN's worldwide president, and Couric is rumored to be considering joining him on the network, especially since Zucker pulled former "Katie" co-executive producer Michael Bass to join him there.

Neither CNN nor ABC have commented on the report. Couric has talked about returning to the "Today" show after she left seven years ago.

"There were some possible overtures for me to go back to the 'Today' show, but they evaporated," Couric said. "For me, that was the best job."

Should Couric decide to pursue "Today" again, Zucker may be able to lure her to CNN with a morning-news gig.
