Cameron D'Ambrosio, the teenage boy who was arrested in May for a Facebook post that suggested he could do much worse than the Boston Marathon bombers was released from jail Friday.
Lawrence District Court Judge Lynn Rooney issued an order for his release Thursday after after a grand jury refused to indict him.
D'Ambrosio, 18, was arrested on May 1 and accused of "communicating a terrorist threat" after fellow students who attend Methuen High School alerted police of his Facebook post. The teen, who is a self procalimed rapper, wrote:
"[Expletive] a boston bomb wait till u see the [expletive] I do, I'mma be famous rapping, and beat every murder charge that comes across me!"
After D'Ambrosio's arrest free speech activists began an online movement to have him freed. After his release, Evan Greer, of Boston's Center for Rights and Fight for the Future said that "while today is a major victory for Cam, the chilling effect that this case has already had on free speech cannot be undone."
