Cooper was back in Washington, D.C., on Monday for the National Conference on Mental Health hosted by the White House.
“I’m sort of here by accident,” Cooper told the audience, according to The Reliable Source. “It’s not that I didn’t know about mental illness. I think it’s just that I just didn’t see it as a part of my life.”
Biden, who also attended the conference, joked about his granddaughter's efforts to use his connections to introduce her to Cooper.
"She said, 'Pop, you're his friend, right?' " Biden said. " 'Pop, you ought to call him. ... We have a very big suite. You should have him down like you do other people! Like presidents and things!' "
