Since Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles tendon during an April 12 game against the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard has used social media to update fans on the progress of his recovery.

Several weeks after the 34-year-old NBA star documented his MRI scan and surgery through Instagram photos, Bryant told followers this week that he'd finally ditched his walking boot in favor of his "medical mamba shoes" -- custom-made Nikes with raised heels.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bryant could be ready to play in time for the Lakers' season opener in October.
