A set of twin giraffes was born in New Braunfels, Texas earlier this month.

According to Fox Houston, the giraffes are the only of their kind to have survived the birth in the United States.

The twins, a female named Wasswa and a male named Nakato, will remain at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch in Texas, but the public will be allowed to come and see them.

According to wildlife officials it is extremely rare for twin giraffes to be born and survive, which is why they waited so long to announce their birth.

Tiffany Soechting, a Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch marketing director and animal specialist, said "both Wasswa and Nakato are thriving."
