The Packers aren't ashamed to say it: they miss Brett Favre. Green Bay CEO Mark Murphy said the team hopes to bring the retired quarterback into the family, five years after they sent him to the Jets.
"I thought he and Aaron [Rogers] jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award was a great first step," Murphy told Fox Sports Wisconsin. "We're hopeful to have him back in the fold and get him back involved in the organization soon."
Favre led the the Packers for 15 seasons, and Rogers took over his spot when he retired in March 2008. The animosity between Favre and the Packers grew after the quarterback decided to un-retire and the team refused to give him back his starting job.
"I thought it was good timing to just let the fans know, to let Brett know, let's move forward," Rodgers said on his Wisconsin radio show in February. "Let's heal things up and move forward."
Murphy said the team is laying plans to retired Favre's No. 4 jersey, and hopes the future Hall of Famer will someday join him on the bus traveling throughout Wisconsin on the annual tailgate tour.
