Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced via Twitter he had undergone emergency surgery on Tuesday and that it had been a success.

E! News reports the 40-year-old actor was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night for an emergency hernia operation and was forced to miss the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film "Pain & Gain."

The film's director Michel Bay, sent his best to the actor from the red carpet.

"Dwayne's hurt tonight," Bay told E!. "He was pushing it too hard. [ He] needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men."

On Sunday Jonhnson tweeted he would undergo surgery this week to repair an abdominal tear.
