Meghan McCain and Ann Coulter are two Republican women who don't exactly see eye to eye. McCain called Coulter "offensive, radical, insulting and confusing all at the same time," in a 2009 Daily Beast article, while Coulter once compared her to Tiger Woods' mistress.

Coulter reinvigorated their feud with a since-deleted Fox News blog post called "Liberals Go Crazy for the Mentally Ill," in which she wrote:

"MSNBC's Martin Bashir suggested that Republican senators need to have a member of their families killed for them to support the Democrats' gun proposals. (Let's start with Meghan McCain!)."

The offending quip refers to Martin Bashir's interview with Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., whose nephew was lethally shot in 2011.

McCain and her mother responded in a series of tweets on Wednesday and Thursday. People like Coulter "only live to spread hate and negativity," McCain said.

"I literally couldn't imagine living a life that seems so void of love, compassion, and perspective, McCain added. "Basically I get to wake up every day wanting to make this world a better place and people like her want to make it a worse place. I feel blessed to have not grown to be a person like that."

Her mother Cindy got into the fray with a few tweets defending her daughter.

"Ann Coulter needs to get a life!" she said. "Ann Coulter have one of your family members threatened. See how you feel!"
