The controversial White Student Union has announced plans to conduct random nighttime patrols on Towson University's campus in Baltimore, which members say are for students’ protection.

The club's president, Matthew Heimbach, wrote on the group's blog about a "black crime wave" sweeping the Towson campus.

"The frequent robberies, sexual assaults, and acts of vandalism at Towson University are not often reported in the local media. For those who are not Towson students it seems hard to fathom that every single day black predators prey upon the majority white Towson University student body.

The virtue of white Christian womanhood is under attack at Towson University by degenerate criminals seeking to rob our women of their God given innocence."

Heimbach went on to say that female members of WSU will be required to take unarmed self defense classes. Male members will be required to take self-defense training and conduct weekly night patrols, escorting women between their classes and dorms. The blog posts are signed "Commander Heimbach."

Heimbach told the student newspaper The Towerlight that group members would not carry weapons on the nighttime walks, but on the WSU blog it was announced that the group was dedicating funds to purchasing "legal and nonlethal means of self defense for all members."

The Southern Poverty Law Center recently named the White Student Union as a hate group. WSU's status as a Towson student group is still unofficial because they have not yet found a faculty sponsor. They made headlines when members went to the Conservative Political Action Conference and attended a panel titled “Trump the Race Card: Are You Sick and Tired of Being Called a Racist and You Know You’re Not One?”

“The white, blue-collar vote is being completely ignored by Republicans,” Heimbach said after the event. The liberal blog Think Progress interviewed Heimbach, and asked if he would “accept a society where African Americans were permanently subservient to whites,” to which he responded, “I’d be fine with that.”

He told The Towerlight his remarks were taken "out of context."

"We just want to make campus a better place. If we see a white person commit a crime against a person who is not white, we’re going to assist the person who was attacked every time.”
