The first sitting Republican U.S. senator to come out in support of same-sex marriage is Rob Portman of Ohio. Portman appeared on CNN Thursday in his only on-camera interview about the "evolution" of his position after his son came out to him as gay two years ago.
In a piece he wrote for the Columbus Dispatch Friday, Portman said, "Ronald Reagan said all great change in America begins at the dinner table, and that’s been the case in my family."
