"Finally, there’s a television show set in New York City," Comedy Central Original Programming President Kent Alterman joked of the series, a wink at the show's parallel to HBO's "Girls."

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer star in "Broad City," a show about two friends making their way through life in New York. The series began as a sketch concept at Upright Citizen's Brigade and eventually made it to YouTube.

UCB alum Amy Poehler will executive produce the scripted version of the comedy series, along with Jacobson, Glazer, 3 Arts' Dave Becky and Generate's Sam Saifer, with Tony Hernandez as a co-EP.

Said Poehler: "I'm excited to work with Comedy Central and introduce Abbi and Ilana to America. And all the other countries. And also Mars. We've got big plans."
