Jon Stewart to take 12-week break from 'Daily Show'

After hosting "The Daily Show" for 14 years, Jon Stewart will take an extended vacation this summer.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that John Oliver will fill in as host of the late night show for eight of those weeks, producing new episodes Monday through Thursday. The remaining four weeks of Stewart's break from the program will likely be covered by reruns.

Stewart will reportedly use the time to direct his first feature film, "Rosewater," based on the book "Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival." Written by Maziar Bahari, it is the story of his experience covering the 2009 Iranian presidential elections.

Oliver is a regular correspondent on the comedy newscast. He also appears as a guest regular on "Community" on NBC and performs stand-up comedy. In the video below he "investigates investigative journalism."
