London actor Robin Sachs died unexpectedly last week at age 61. His death was announced on his official website with no cause disclosed.

From the announcement posted Tuesday:

"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Robin Sachs.

Please join us in raising a glass to Robin – goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much."

On cult favorite "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" his villainous character Ethan Rayne was the nemesis of regular character Giles, played by Anthony Head.

A blog devoted to the works of Joss Whedon tweeted this:

In 1999, he co-starred as the villain Sarris in the comedy "Galaxy Quest," opposite Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman. Well-known in the sci-fi world, Sachs often made guest appearances shows and movies including "Babylon 5" and "Star Trek: Voyager," and "Ocean's Eleven."

A prolific voice actor, Sachs also voiced a number of video games including the character Zaeed Massani in Mass Effect 2 and 3 and Ataman in Resident Evil: Damnation.
