Toyota said Wednesday that it was recalling more than 1 million vehicles sold in the U.S. over defective airbags and windshield wipers, CNN Money reported.

"The airbag control issue affects about 752,000 Corolla and Corolla Matrix cars sold in 2003 and 2004. And the windshield wiper issue affects some 270,000 Lexus IS models sold between 2006 and early 2012," CNN Money wrote.

According to the Japanese car-maker, the issues with the cars could escalate to very dangerous scenarios.

The glitches in the Corolla stem from the airbags' integrated circuit, which can be damaged over time, resulting in a short circuit that can cause the airbags to deploy inadvertently.

As for the Lexus, the cars' wipers problem originate from a loose lock that prevents the wipers from functioning when being blocked by a heavy buildup of snow.

As of now, there have been 25 reports of the Corolla problem, with no injuries, and 47 reports of the Lexus issue with 18 minor injuries and two unconfirmed crashes, Toyota's spokesman, Brian Lyon reported.
