MacFarlane, with actress Emma Stone as his partner-in-crime, carried out the pre-6a.m. nominations announcement with a series of jabs at Hollywood, Harvey Weinstein and the Best Supporting Actor contenders.
He even dropped a reference to Hitler, Germany and the well-received film "Amour": "I read Amour was co-produced by Austria and Germany. The last time Austria and Germany co-produced something, it was Hitler."
In response, social media users readied themselves for what just might turn out to be a very interesting Academy Awards show:

"Hi, I'm Oscars host Seth MacFarlane and this reminds me of the time...[cut to montage of Hanna-Barbera jokes and Hitler references]"— Dave Itzkoff (@ditzkoff) January 10, 2013
If there was an Academy Award for "stupidest use of lazy Hitler joke," Seth MacFarlane would be on track to win it.— Joseph Hunter (@joesoldout) January 10, 2013
