Former President Bill Clinton is putting his life in the hands of HBO and Martin Scorsese, at least figuratively, for a documentary to air on the premiere cable channel.

The legendary director will tackle the life story of one of the most fascinating political figures in recent memory, working with Clinton's full cooperation, the New York Times said.

In a statement announcing the film, Scorsese said Clinton was ripe for a documentary because he is “a towering figure who remains a major voice in world issues” and who “continues to shape the political dialogue both here and around the world.”

“Through intimate conversations, I hope to provide greater insight into this transcendent figure,” he said.

“I am pleased that legendary director Martin Scorsese and HBO have agreed to do this film" Clinton said in a statement. "I look forward to sharing my perspective on my years as President, and my work in the years since, with HBO’s audience.”

No title or release date for the film were given.
