For the first time in six months, fans of HBO's crossover hit Game of Thrones got a look at what's coming in the third season of the series.

(Hint: It's winter. Winter is what's coming.)

Although the season won't premiere for nearly another four months (how will we wait?!), HBO released an "in production" video, featuring cast and crew interviews to whet the appetites of fanboys and girls mourning the absence of Dany, Arya, Robb and Tyrion.

Unsurprisingly, the video features gorgeous landscapes of Belfast, Iceland, Croatia and Morocco, sumptuous costumes and a cast of thousands.

Season three will be roughly based on A Storm of Swords, the third novel in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.

New characters (some of whom appeared in the second book of the series, A Clash of Kings, but whose appearances on the show were delayed for practical reasons) include Mance Rayder (Ciaran Hinds), Jojen and Meera Reed (Thomas Sangster and Ellie Kendrick), Daario Naharis (Ed Skrein). They were introduced in a video first aired at ComicCon in July.
