It's a rare occasion when the world is gifted with new recordings from a genius musician who's been dead for more than 40 years.

On March 5, the estate of Jimi Hendrix, the guitarist who died at age 27 in 1970, will give us People, Hell and Angels, an album of 12 previously unreleased Hendrix songs.

Eddie Kramer, who engineered Hendrix's Electric Ladyland, previews the new album. The title, he says, is a "fantastic window into Jimi's mind putting together bands that were different from The Experience."

The recordings for People, Hell and Angels were done in 1968 and 1969.

The video, embedded here, will be available starting Wednesday morning. Until then, check out a few classic Hendrix moments.
