Canadian sensation Justin Bieber met Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Friday to receive the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, awarded to people who "have made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada." Wearing a pair of overalls, yellow sneakers, a silver chain and a backwards hat, Bieber instagrammed a photo of the occasion, along with the sober observance: "I met the Prime Minister in overalls lol."

After a barrage of criticisms from the press and from fans, Bieber later defended his choice of attire on Instagram, writing that the picture was taken in a room where the singer had been performing.

I walked straight from my meet and greet to him, if you "Hayley" expect me to have a change of clothes let a loan a suit at that specific time that's crazy, It wasn't like it was like I was going into his environment we were at a hockey arena.
