Seth MacFarlane breaks the exciting Oscars news to his dad [VIDEO]

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Just a week after his amusingly botched Emmy's appearance, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane today announced that he will host the 85th Academy Awards on February 24 on ABC.

MacFarlane, 38, tweeted out a video of himself breaking the news to his delightfully mustachioed father.

Sample quote from the interaction: "Of course, its wonderful news, but also the fact that you're getting almost brand new bathing suits is also good news."

MacFarlane is also the man behind "Ted," "The Cleveland Show" and "American Dad!"

"It's truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars," MacFarlane said in a statement. "My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast."

Here's hoping he can find the mic this time.
