As has been widely noted, cats are some of the Internet's biggest stars. Maru, for example, the fluffy, box-loving cat from Japan, boasts an extensive oeuvre of YouTube videos that have garnered more than 170 million hits over the past several years.

Cat videos are so popular, about 10,000 people attended the first-ever Internet Cat Video Film Festival in Minneapolis this August, with dainty pet cat Lil Bub also putting in an appearance.

Born with a deformed jaw, no teeth, shortened limbs and dwarfism, Lil Bub is an improbable animal celebrity. She has her own YouTube channel, Twitter account, merchandise, Facebook and Tumblr pages, all run by dedicated owner Mike Bridavsky of Indiana.

So dedicated in fact, he has this tattoo.

Now, Lil Bub can add movie star to her list of accomplishments. VICE magazine recently released a teaser trailer for their upcoming feature-length documentary film about Lil Bub and her adventures at the cat festival.

Producer Juliette Eisner explained the concept of the film in an email to the Huffington Post:

The film will focus on the ever-growing obsession with cats on the Internet, through the experience of the [Internet Cat Video Festival] with Lil Bub as the 'protagonist' of sorts. It will also feature a number of various cat video directors and other individuals who continue to feed the Internet-cat-fire every single day on the web.

Lil Bub responded to the news via her Tumblr page:

HEY IT’S ME BUB! I’m ecstatic after my trip to Minneapolis. VICE is making a movie about me. I’ve never been happier or more content. LIFE IS PRETTY COOL SOMETIMES.

"Lil Bub & Friendz" is due out this fall on VICE's YouTube channel.
