iPhone and Android users can get pretty competitive in defense of their respective devices.

Apple junkies tout a sleek look and seamless user interface; Google fiends love the freedom of an open source system.

But iPhone and Android uses have found common ground: politics.

According to a new survey, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of the mobile marketing firm Velti, smartphone users on both mobile platforms prefer President Barack Obama to Governor Mitt Romney, 49 percent to 31 percent.

And it's pretty evenly split between the two platforms as well--Obama got his support from 47 percent of iPhone users and 50 percent of Android users, where as Romney's support was 34 percent and 29 percent, respectively.

Last month, Romney's campaign took the unprecedented step of buying a campaign on Apple's iAd advertising platform, and Obama is expected to follow soon.

Velti also produced a fun graphic to illustrate the breakdown.
