Pakistani leaders address Karachi violence

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 2 (UPI) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari led a special meeting on violence in Karachi, where at least five people died in separate incidents, officials said.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan and law enforcement officials also attended the briefing on Karachi, Geo News reported.

Police officials told Dawn News five incidents of gunfire killed at least five people in the Pakistani port city, and injured more than a dozen others.

Police said clashes between two groups were responsible for at least one of the deaths. Officials said gunfire was reported in neighborhoods throughout the city.
