Momic, 47, was arrested under a European warrant at dawn as he went to work.

Serbian authorities issued the warrant for crimes against humanity against Momic, who was a member of the Scorpions, a special unit controlled by the Serbian Interior Ministry that took part in the slaughter of 8,000 Bosnians at Srebrenica in 1995.

Four members of the unit were convicted in Serbia in 2007, and sentenced to as long as 20 years.

The Scorpions fought for Serbia in Croatia 1991-95, in Bosnia between 1992-95 and then in Kosovo during the 1998-99 war.
