WASHINGTON, April 29 (UPI) -- Jane Sanders, wife of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, said she wants the FBI to speed up its investigation into Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton's email use.

Sanders made the remarks during an interview with Fox Business, when she was asked about the status of the investigation.

In an early Democratic presidential debate, Bernie Sanders famously remarked "the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails" -- seemingly putting to rest what could have been a potent line of attack against Clinton in their primary race.

Jane Sanders continued that tack Thursday, saying the investigation should continue "without politicizing it."

"I mean, it would be nice if the FBI moved it along," she added, with a laugh.

Sanders also continued the campaign's criticism of the Democratic primary process, saying independents should be allowed to vote and the outsized role of superdelegates enables the party to subvert the voters' will.

"There's no doubt if independents were allowed to vote the outcome in the Democratic process would be a lot different. Bernie has won 17 states, a lot of them open," Jane Sanders said.

"It doesn't seem fair that superdelegates can play such an outsized role," she added, calling them an "insurance policy" for the political establishment.
