INDIANAPOLIS, April 28 (UPI) -- When Carly Fiorina accepted Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz's offer to be his running mate should he win the GOP nomination she was clearly happy about the offer -- so happy she broke out in song during her acceptance speech.

Fiorina, who endorsed the Texas senator after her own presidential bid failed, has been traveling with the Cruz campaign for weeks as a top surrogate.

"I've come to know Ted, and Heidi and Caroline and Catherine," she said Wednesday at a rally in Indianapolis where she formally accepted his offer to become Cruz's running mate.

Then, Fiorina began singing an impromptu song about her relationship with the Cruz family.

"I know two girls that I just adore. I'm so happy I can see them more. Cuz' we travel on the bus all day, we get to play."

Cruz made the offer clearly hoping to shake up the Republican race, which has been dominated over the past six primaries by front-runner Donald Trump. While it is certainly a departure from the harsh insults that have defined much of the campaign, it's unclear whether Fiorina's whimsical children's song is what Cruz had in mind for the new tone of his campaign.
