NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- A man was found dead amid the debris of a small plane that crashed into the waters off the borough of Queens, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was discovered shortly after police received 911 calls about a plane crash Wednesday. The plane was found in the ocean about 1.5 miles off Breezy Point, Queens.

It is unclear how many people were on the plane or why it crashed. The single-engine plane was registered in Rye, N.H. and began its journey in Pennsylvania early Wednesday evening.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating the crash.
