Beau Biden, Vice President Joe Biden's son, hospitalized

BETHESDA, Md., May 19 (UPI) -- Beau Biden, a Democratic candidate for governor of Delaware in 2016 and son of Vice President Joe Biden, was hospitalized at Walter Reed Military Medical Center on Tuesday.

The vice president's office confirmed the younger Biden was undergoing treatment at the facility in Bethesda, Md., but declined to disclose more details.

Beau Biden, 46, is the former Delaware attorney general and has recently been out of the public eye in part because of a number of health problems. He had a mild stroke in 2010 and in 2013 he had a small brain lesion removed at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Beau Biden is also a major in the Delaware Army National Guard.
