The victim told police she called 911 in 2013 because her boyfriend was angry and was damaging their possessions. She testified at Nunlee's preliminary hearing that he pulled her pants down and forced her to touch his penis.

Prosecutors said the assault took place upstairs in the woman's home while Nunlee's partner was with the boyfriend downstairs.

The woman first told two friends about the assault and then called the police department the next day, investigators said. Nunlee's DNA linked him to the woman.

Nunlee, 40, had joined the Detroit Police Department in 2008.
