FOXBOROUGH, Mass., May 23 (UPI) -- Rafael Cruz, father of controversial Texas senator and Tea Party darling Ted Cruz, has strongly endorsed defining one's politics on personal religious beliefs.

Speaking to the Massachusetts Republican Assembly 4th Chapter, Cruz, a North Texas pastor and director of Purifying Fire Ministries, said his interpretation of the Christian version of god lays clear qualifications for a leader.

"As a matter of fact, did you know that the Bible tells you exactly who to vote for," Cruz posed. "Very, very clearly the Bible tells you who to vote for."

Cruz, 74, said the Christian bible commands its followers to vote for able-bodied men who fear god, seek truth, and hate covetousness. Cruz emphasized and consistently displayed that his use of the word "men" was gender-neutral, and all his statements applied to both sexes without exception.

Cruz went on to accuse the current administration and its allies of being liars.

Whether it's Lois Lerner, or it's Rahm Emanuel, or it's our illustrious attorney general, or it's our president, they go from lie to lie to lie to lie.
