A rumor circulated the Internet Thursday that the investigation of Kurt Cobain’s death was being reopened by the Seattle Police Department.

Mystery and controversy surrounded the iconic frontman of Nirvana’s death in 1994, with many contending his suicide was actually homicide.

Thursday KIRO-TV reported that Seattle PD was re-investigating Cobain’s death and the Internet quickly convulsed with the news.

But police weren’t officially reopening the investigation.

The rumors started over four rolls of undeveloped film with photographs of the original scene that were found and examined by the police as new evidence. The Seattle Times reports: police didn’t discover anything new, and after reviewing the photos they decided not to re-open the case.

Surprisingly, Courtney Love has not yet Tweeted about this, but she is on West Coast Time and might still be sleeping.
