GAINESVILLE, Ga., July 12 (UPI) -- A five-vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer killed three people and injured five near Gainesville, Ga., Friday morning, police said.
Police received a call on the wreck on the northbound Georgia Highway 365 at 1 a.m. Friday, Gainesville Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said.
"The tractor trailer is entangled with a number of vehicles. We transported at least five patients from that scene," Holbrook said, adding the patients are in serious to critical condition.
The names of the dead and injured were not released.
Traffic lanes on the road were blocked all night, WSB-FM, Atlanta, reported.
Holbrook said firefighters cleaned up oil and fuel spilled from the overturned tractor trailer before it could be brought upright and removed.
